July Medal 2nd July 2006

It's difficult not to sympathise with Mike Campbell here.out in the early draw, a field of 18, and his score of nett 65 was leading as group after group came in, until the final threeball took all three podium places, with the old beggar (I'm sure that's what he said) Chris Russell leading the lot for his second victory in 5 days.

The Clydesdale Bank Cup
Tobermory v Craignure GC
9th July 2006

Vice Captain Ewan MacCrone got off to a real flyer when he led Tobermory to their most comprehensive victory ever in this tournament. Last year it took a 3-3 draw for Tobermory to hold on to this most prized Cup, but while Craignure battled gamely in almost every match, there was ultimately only one winner as Ewan lifted the trophy with a 6-0 margin.

Highland Games Cup 16th July 2006

Well, he did it at last.just when it was feared the only way that Mike would get cut other than robbing the committee of 50 pences and hoping  for a rule 19,  he won and broke his handicap on the same day. Paramedics in Glasgow were put on alert lest he would have to be flown south to have the smile surgically removed. a worthy winner (let's see how 24 suits him..). Scott MacLean enjoyed a decent knock and Gordon had the courtesy to wear his bridesmaids white shirt again

Catherine Anne MacCrone lifted the ladies prize by a point from Olive Brown to win with 30 pts (29)

Lions day 23rd July 2006

It was unfortunate that this event clashed with the Open Mixed Fours in Oban, which reduced the field to 14, but at least there was competition in every category. Alex Cowe from Salen made a rare but welcome appearance, lifting the gent's trophy with an impressive 37 pts, Winnie Patterson won the ladies trophy, and Angus Cowe held off Grant Williams challenge in the juniors. Leading local gents were the two Johns, Weir and Wilshire with creditable 35 point totals.

Vice Captain's Prize 26th July 2006

Vice Captain Ewan MacCrone chose a Stableford format for this competition and as ever there was close competition at the top of the leaderboard, but eventually the VC's brother Peter held off challenges from Graham Davidson and Dodo MacLean. The captain got in on the act by taking the nearest-the-pin prize on 9 with an expertly thinned 8 iron to within a meter of the hole.

2

Davidson, Graham R
