| Argyll & Bute Team Trophy |
30th June 2007 |
The Argyll and Bute Area Golf Team Championship took place on Saturday 30th June at Tobermory Golf Club. The format of teams of four (one from each handicap class) with the three best scores counting has traditional favoured the home sides since the inception of the Trophy, and this was to be no exception.
Teams arrived from Craignure, Cowal, Inellan, Taynuilt, Tarbert and Lochgilphead, last year's champions. The golf take place against a backdrop of cloud, with a difficult northwesterly wind and occasional showers, so it was little surprise that the home team of Graham Davidson, Donald Brown, Phil Higson and John Wilshire were better able to master the conditions than their opponents.
There were in fact only three sub-70 net scores all day, and two of them went to home players with Phil Higson returning a net 62, to give him the best net score for the second year in a row. His 76 net 62 saw his handicap reduced, as did John Wilshire's 86 net 64. The Tobermory total of 196 gave them a comfortable cushion over closest rivals Cowal in second.

| 4th Round Centenary |
24th June 2007 |
The club Centenary Championship finished after 4 rounds with former captain Donald Brown triumphant for the second time in three seasons. Despite not being able to improve his score, his three round total of 203 was sufficient to see off the challenges of Graham Davidson and Tim Gardiner. In the handicap section, Peter MacCrone likewise clocked up his own second-in-three with a net 202 which just pipped John Wilshire and Phil Higson.

The Jennifer Jack trophy for juniors was won by Grant Williams on Saturday. Andrew MacDonald was second, but in-form Angus Cowe was not to be upstaged and despite finishing in third place could boast of a mind-numbing 1-4-2 finish over the last 3 holes. For the second successive week each of the top three boys broke par and reduced their handicaps.

10th & 11th
June 2007 |
What a weekend, glorious weather, great hosts and lots of fun. Vaul once again made us feel like celebrities, with old freindships being renewed yet again. The Western Approaches Cup was won by Iain Brown of Vaul with a magnificent 44 Stableford points, though we did have 3 of our players in the top 5. The Cadden cup was played on the Sunday with the home team getting a much deserved 4-3 win over the guests.

| June Medal |
4th June 2007 |
What an awful day, after getting soaked in the team match on Saturday, only six players turned out for the Medal and the weather was even worse. Never stopped raining for the entire game. Still it didn't stop Phil & Graham going round in net 68's with Phil just winning on countback. As this was also the Magner's qualifier then these two will represent the club at the regional finals.

| Tobermory v Taynuilt |
2nd June 2007 |
Captain Gordon Chalmers was delighted to host the visit of Taynuilt Golf Club and get even for the defeat at their course last year.
The day was very windy to begin with but then the rain decided to join in. Far too windy for brollies, so just had to stick it out to get a very creditable 3-2 scoreline. Young Grant Williams played his first match for the mens team and partnered with the captain got his first team win with the club. |
